Eden Valley
Each grape variety has its preferred soil type and will not produce quality wine in the wrong site. A small part of our vineyard was planted to merlot in 1998 and later grafted to savagnin, neither of which reached our high quality requirements. The vines were then grafted to cabernet sauvignon, a variety which requires a lot of patience to achieve the required ripeness to produce great wines. The resulting cabernet sauvignon is a top quality wine, showing the importance of the site and the associated care for this grape variety.
Tasting Notes
The Cabernet Sauvignon is made from premium, single vineyard grapes grown in the cool climate of Eden Valley. The vines are hand pruned and the grapes hand-picked.
At this stage of its development, it has a lovely, deep purple colour, alluring red berry, plum and spice aromas, with just a hint of vanillin oak.
On the palate it has gorgeous, appealing flavours with soft oak notes and a long, lingering finish.
